Best Practice: Reality Day

Chapter: NAWBO Greater La Crosse

Contact: Lois Duna, lois@loisduna.com

Goal: To help high schoolers prepare for the future, NAWBO Greater La Crosse has partnered with a local school district and created a Reality Day where the students get a taste for working life.

Implementation: Reality Day is a one day event where high school students experience working life.  Area businesses provide booths where students buy insurance, cars, housing, food, clothing, and all of the other essentials of being an adult.  This gives the students an opportunity to see all the responsibility that comes with the working world.

Results: Reality Day has given NAWBO Greater La Crosse a greater visibility in their small community as well as a stronger relationship.  It is also very beneficial to the students that attend this event.
