Best Practice: University Alliance to Build Business Capacity and Information

Chapter: NAWBO Louisville

Contact: Nance Keck, nbkeck@aol.com

Goal: To help chapter members solve their business questions and to obtain knowledgeable speakers for their meetings, NAWBO Louisville partners with their local University.

Implementation: NAWBO Louisville has a very valuable partnership with their local University. The chapter gives two $500 scholarships to two female entrepreneurs that are in MBA programs. The University reciprocates by providing MBA student teams to diagnose and solve business problems for specific member businesses. The University also provides speakers for panels and NAWBO business owners serve on MBA business panels.

Results: The chapter’s alliance with the University has made it possible for NAWBO members’ ideas to grow and their businesses to improve at no cost to them.  It also has exposed the members to business best practices.
